How to remove extra and temporary files using Disk Cleanup utility? Removing extra and temporary files using Disk Cleanup utility of Microsoft Windows XP.

First of all load Disk Cleanup utility. There are 2 methods to load Disk Cleanup utility.
  1. Open Run Command and type "%SystemRoot%System32cleanmgr.exe" without quotes and press Enter.
  2. Start Menu => All Programs => Accessories => System utilities => Disk Cleanup.

Disk cleanup utility will ask the following options.

  • Downloaded Program Files
  • Temporary Internet Files
  • Old Chkdsk Files
  • Recycle Bin
  • Setup Log Files
  • Temporary files
  • WebClient/Publisher Temporary Files
  • Temporary Offline Files
  • Offline Files
  • Catalog files for the Content Indexer
Select options for your need and click on OK Button. This utility will delete automatically your selected files from your PC and will spare disk space for your future work.
