What is e-mail service or address?
E-mail stands for electronic mail. It is the most popular service or facility provided by the Internet through which we can electronically send and receive messages anywhere in the world. E-mail is a fast and efficient method of communication. It is almost free of cost. The e-mail reaches to the destination in a few seconds. You can also send documents, pictures, audio and video files via e-mail by attaching the file with e-mail. It is also possible to send or receive e-mail messages through a mobile phone.

E-mail Address
E-mail -is sent and received with the reference of e-mail address. Therefore, each Internet user must have a unique e-mail account on an e-mail server, to send and receive e-mails. You must type the correct e-mail address to send an e-mail, otherwise it is returned back. When some one sends e-mail to your e-mail address, it is stored in your mailbox. When you login to your account, you will usually be informed if you have new mail. Some mail systems will make sounds and tell you that you have new mail.

How does E-mail work?
To create, send and receive e-mail, you need e-mail program, also called “email client”. Once you send the message, your computer connects to your e-mail server and transmits a copy of your message. E-mail Server is a host computer on the Internet, which keeps track of information about millions of e-mail account holders. The server checks the address you have typed and finds out where the recipient e-mail server is. It connects to that server and transmits another copy of the message. Once the receiving e-mail server has received the message, the recipient is able to retrieve the message when connected to the server.
Most e-mail clients allow you to attach files to the e-mail message. In this way you can send and receive data as well as program files.
Advantages of E-mail
There are several advantages of the e-mail facility available on the Internet. The main advantages of e-mail are:

Limitations of E-Mail
Although e-mail, provides the fast and efficient way to send and messages. It also has some limitations. These are described below.
- Email is not necessarily private. Your confidential message read by someone such as network administrator.
- Some email systems can send or receive text files only.
- It is difficult to express emotions using email.
- You can receive too much or unwanted emails.
- You may not know about the person with whom you are communicating.

To create new e-mail account on the Hotmail, follow these steps.
- Open the Hotmail website.
