Creating Folders

The files are properly managed in folders. A folder can further have sub-folders. A folder is created on the disk before to copy files to it. You can also create folders on the desktop.

To create a new folder or sub-folder, follow these steps:

  1. Open the drive or folder, in which you want to create folder or sub-folder.
  2. On the File menu; point to “New” and then Click Folder.
    OR
    Right click on the empty space, a popup menu appears. Choose New and then select Folder. A folder with default name “New Folder” is created.
  3. Type proper name for the new folder and then press Enter.

Selecting Files & Folders

In Windows, an object like file or folder is selected before performing any operation on it. Usually, when a file or folder is single clicked it is selected. To select multiple files or folders, procedure is given below.

  1. To select more than one files or folders those are adjacent to one another:
    • Select the first file or folder.
    • Hold down the Shift key, and then select the last file or folder.
  2. To select more than one files or folders those are not adjacent to one another:
    • Select the first file or folder.
    • Hold down the Ctrl key, and then select files or folders by clicking on their icons one by one.
  3. To select all files or folders:
    • From Edit menu, Choose “Select All” command.
      OR
    • Press Ctrl + A, shortcut key.
