Windows XP General Tips | Microsoft Windows XP Professional and Home Edition Few general tips about Microsoft Windows XP.

There are two types of Windows used by single users. First one is Microsoft Windows XP Professional and 2nd is Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.

If you are confused that which windows you are using. I’ll tell you the procedure.

  • Click on “Start Menu”
  • Click on “Run Command”
  • Type “winver” (without quotes) and press Enter

A window will appear like above image. You can see Windows Full Name covered with red oval.

Windows XP Professional Edition provides more functionality over network while Windows XP Home Edition is designed only for home users who are not using networking.

Making Self Extractable Compressed File

Microsoft Windows XP has built-in utility to make self extractable compressed file. Its name is “IExpress”. This utility is a useful utility for transfer multiple files from one computer to another computer. Advantage is that destination computer doesn’t need any software for un-compression. This utility creates self extractable “.exe” file. See a snap shot below.
