How to set Folder Options in Microsoft Windows XP?
Folder options have some important settings of your Microsoft Windows XP. You must know the usage of Folder Options.
Folder options can access by open “Tools” menu => “Folder Options” in Windows Explorer.

Show file extensions
If you want to show file extensions with file names in Windows Explorer then use this option.
Tab “View” => and un check “Hide extensions for known file types”.
After un checking option above you can see extensions with file names in Windows Explorer.
Show hidden files and folders in Explorer
If you want to show hidden files and folders in your windows explorer then use radio button “Show hidden files and folders” in tab “View”. Hidden files and folders will appear in dimm colors.
Show Control Panel in My Computer
If you want to show Windows Control Panel in My Computer Explorer then check “Show control panel in My Computer” in tab “View”.
Register new file type
I need to register file extensions “.sat” with notepad. I mean I want to open “.sat” files in Notepad automatically then I must register .sat extension. Here are the steps for registering a new extension with notepad.
- Click on tab “File Types”.
- Click on “New” button and type extension sat and press “OK”
- Now click on “Change” button and select “Notepad” from programs list.
After these steps “anyname.sat” file will open in Notepad from Windows Explorer by double click.
Set single click instead of double click on files
If you want to open all files with single click instead of double click from Windows Explorer then open “General” tab and select option “Single-click to open an item (point to select)”
After selecting this option all files and folders will open with single click.
