Nowadays, the most commonly used Word Processing software in personal computers is Microsoft Word 2000. It is used o prepare documents, letters, business reports etc. but it is mostly used in offices to prepare the official documents. The most important features of Microsoft Word are described below.
Creating Document
The process of entering text into a document using keyboard as well as inserting different objects like pictures etc. into document is called creating document. In this process following three features of Microsoft Word are involved:
1. Cursor
A small blinking bar in the document window that shows where you can insert new text or object into the document. It is known as cursor. The point where cursor is located is called the Insertion Point.
2. Navigating
Navigating in a document means to move the cursor in the document to view different parts of document or to make some changes at different locations of the document. In Microsoft Word Window, only a small portion of current document can be viewed. The standard screen can display 20-22 lines of standard size text. Mostly the document size is larger than that. You can move in the document using mouse or keyboard navigating keys.
3. Word Wrap
During text entering process, the cursor automatically shifts to the next line when it reaches to the right margin. It means that text “wraps around” to the next line. The user does not have to hit Enter key after typing one line.
